Carol Muzik Author Events
Carol is devoted to helping others learn to tell their stories, whether it be through art, writing, or publishing.                                      webassets/webCanyon.jpg
Her goal through teaching is to connect children and adults to their own stories and help others learn to listen to the stories.  Listening is one of the keys to helping our seemingly divisive world connect with one another.  More and more we seem disconnected from each other in our dialogue and beliefs.  Our stories serve to remind us that we are in this together.  Our stories connect us at the heart showing us we are more alike than different.  Carol enjoys being a facilitator in helping children and adults tell their stories.
Listening to others' stories connect us and we stop trying to find how different we are.  As a Registered Nurse, and as a gallery owner, Carol always felt her conversations with people revealed our similarities. Time and again, she felt close to people whose beliefs were very different.
We all have the same basic needs and most of us get joy from similar life experiences.  Heart-felt experiences and conversations happen when we let go of our rigid beliefs and are honest in what brings us joy or sadness.  These are the real-life experiences we can all relate to, like the joy of seeing animals in nature, a new member of the family, trials and accomplishments, the death of a friend or family member, or the death of a pet.  Most of us have had these experiences, amongst many others, and hearing about them through others' stories helps us know we are not alone. We can relate.
As Carol has shared Lucy's story, she met many people along the way who've had a similar experience with an animal.  Her story isn't so unusual, and maybe how she's been able to take her story and move on to an essentially new career will spark others to take that creative journey with their stories.
Connect with Carol through the Idaho Commission on the Arts website and look for Carol's Artist Statement and her commitment to connecting children to their stories through art and writing.
You can also contact Eastern Washington University's Get Lit! Author Tours to have Carol teaching creative writing workshops in Washington and Idaho elementary schools, or contact Carol directly.
Carol works with adults too, and consults on the self-publishing process from editing to marketing.  She just helped Jim Noren ghostwrite and publish his book Waiting on a Miracle, and is currently working on a children's book with new author Judy Waring.  Her experiences in the last 5 years of publishing videos, a coloring book, a hardcover picture book, cards, shirts & hats, along with speaking in public, teaching and organizing school programs and budgets have left her with a depth of experience that she enjoys sharing with people who are new to the process.  Contact Carol to discuss your story.
Carol is currently working on a new children's book with author Judy R. Waring.  The story is based on her true story of her cat.  The book is called Jack the Cat Burglar and His Purrty True Tale.  Available Summer 2015.

Idaho Commisson on the Arts
Carol Muzik has been accepted to the Artists in Residence program for the Idaho Commission on the Arts. Muzik along with five new artists will join 20 returning artists as Art Educators to Idaho's statewide elementary schools.

Through the Artists in Residence program, Carol plans to focus on connecting kids with their creativity from experiences in nature. Muzik says, “A partnership with nature teaches us to see inspiration everywhere, thereby, connecting us more deeply with the world around us. Studies show that children are spending around 6 hours a day in front of some type of media. I want to encourage kids to get outside and translate their experiences into hands-on art projects.” Earlier this summer, Muzik taught a six-week writing and drawing course to elementary age kids at the Coeur d'Alene Library, which she called "Inspired by Nature."
Muzik's own story of raising a Canada goose to its successful return to the wild has inspired her creativity, her life - and now her students. Muzik is honored to be accepted into the Artist In Residence program, saying, "The creative path that raising a wild goose has laid out seems to lead to greater purpose with every turn. I am honored and thrilled for this opportunity."
